Signing Osimhen Could Ruin You – Galatasaray Warned
Turkish football pundit Ertem Şener has issued a stern warning to Galatasaray regarding their pursuit of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, claiming the deal could lead the club into financial ruin.
Galatasaray are reportedly keen on signing the Nigerian forward on a permanent deal following a highly successful loan spell. Osimhen, 26, netted an astonishing 37 goals in all competitions during his season-long stint, playing a crucial role in helping the Istanbul giants retain their Turkish Super Lig title.
Despite the player’s impressive performances, Şener is strongly opposed to the proposed move due to the financial burden it could impose. According to him, the overall cost of signing Osimhen could reach approximately €150 million, including both transfer fees and wages.
“I’m not in favour of Galatasaray buying Victor Osimhen,” Şener stated during an appearance on Habersarikirmizi. “You’ll pay €25 million in annual salary and €70–75 million in transfer fees. This means bankruptcy.”
The Turkish commentator’s remarks reflect growing concerns among some sections of the fanbase and financial analysts, who fear the deal could strain the club’s budget beyond sustainable limits.
Osimhen, a former Lille star, remains under contract with Napoli, and any permanent transfer would require significant negotiations and financial commitment from Galatasaray.
As talks reportedly continue behind the scenes, Şener’s warning serves as a sobering reminder of the fine balance clubs must strike between ambition and financial stability.
